martin-luther-king-jr-picDr. Martin Luther King Jnr was a foremost black civil rights activist in the United States of America whose voice and agitation for justice and equality for all black people in America changed for good the lives of black people living in America. Dr. King was assassinated on 4th April 1968, but his legacy lives on as one of the most transformational leaders of the last century. It is in recognition of his devotion to humanity that every 3rd Monday in January is declared a public holiday and commemorated all over the world as Dr. Martin Luther King’s Day. His popular “I have a dream” speech has continued to inspire both the American people and people all over the world. It is therefore in commemoration of his 2010 Day that we are Youngstars Foundation call on all young people to be inspired by not only his values and vision, but also by his courage to act for the general good of all where ever we are.

To participate: Write a 1,000 word letter to Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr,, with your CV attached.

Entry closes January 31st, 2010, 12 midnight.

Eligibility: Young Africans aged 18-30years.
